Law Adviser Asif Nazrul has announced that online registration of marriage and divorce is going to be introduced.
He came up with this information while inaugurating the e-Bail Bond programme simultaneously in eight districts via the virtual platform Zoom from the Secretariat on Wednesday.
Adviser Asif said that work on launching two important digital services is at the final stage. One of these is marriage and divorce registration.
''As you know, there are many disputes and various forms of harassment related to marriage and divorce registration. Due to the absence or uncertainty of registration, women often face harassment and in some cases, steps are even taken to deprive them of their legal rights.''
He said, ''We are making arrangements to do this online. Marriage and divorce registration will be conducted entirely through an online system. The work has already began.''
Asif Nazrul added, a project for online registration of land and property has already been approved and work on the project has already began. To facilitate the online completion of land deed registration, the Registration Act has already been amended and the e-registration process has been incorporated.
