A Dhaka court on Thursday granted a six-day remand for Md Rubel Ahmed, a close associate of accused Faisal Karim Masud, in the murder case of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson and prospective Dhaka-8 independent candidate Sharif Osman Hadi.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed the order after a hearing. The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) sought a 10-day remand, but the court allowed six days.

No defence lawyer represented the accused during the hearing. Rubel was arrested from his residence in Keraniganj early Wednesday.

Hadi was shot on December 12 while returning from election campaigning after Juma prayers in Motijheel.
