Education and Primary and Mass Education Minister Dr A. N. M. Ehsanul Hoque Milon has warned printing press owners who resort to fraudulent practices while printing textbooks that they will not be awarded textbook printing contracts the following year.
The minister made the remarks while speaking at an event held at the International Mother Language Institute in Segunbagicha, Dhaka, on Saturday afternoon as the chief guest.
“The most important thing is that if any printer cheats even once, I will not allow that printer to print books in the future,” he said.
He urged printing press owners to carry out their responsibilities carefully, saying the government has instructed the authorities to support and develop local industries.
“So, I would ask them to think carefully before carrying out the work. If they cheat once, they will be excluded from the process the next time,” he added. Referring to the quality of textbooks printed this year, he said Bangladesh had previously imported textbooks printed in India, but the printing process has now changed.
“In the past, we saw textbooks being printed in India. This time, the printing quality is somewhat different, as far as I have seen and understood,” he added.
