Symbols allotted to eight candidates in Joypurhat

JOYPUHAT, Jan 23: The District Returning Officer on Wednesday allotted electoral symbols to candidates contesting the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election in district's two constituencies.

The symbol allocation ceremony was held at noon in  the conference room of the Joypurhat Deputy Commissioner's office. DC and Returning Officer Al Mamun Mia formally handed over the symbol allocation letters to the candidates.

District Election Officer Mahmud Hasan and other senior officials were present on the occasion.

They also exchanged views with the candidates and urged them to strictly follow the election code of conduct throughout the campaign period.

A total of eight candidates-representing BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, AB Party, BSD, and independent contenders-were allotted symbols across the two constituencies.

Five candidates are contesting in Joypurhat-1, while three are in the race in Joypurhat-2, taking the total number of contestants in the district to eight.

Joypurhat-1 constituency comprises Joypurhat Sadar and Panchbibi upazilas. The seat has 151 polling centres, with a total of 466,274 registered voters.
