COX'S BAZAR, Jan 24:A joint election street rally of the 10-party alliance was held in Teknaf Municipality and Baharchhara Union in Cox's Bazar Friday afternoon.

The rally took place at a field adjacent to Teknaf Government College, where Jamaat-e-Islami-nominated candidate for Cox's Bazar-4 (Ukhiya-Teknaf) constituency, Principal Maulana Nur Ahmed Anwari, attended as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Anwari said that despite being a region of immense potential, people of Teknaf are being forced to live in poverty and unemployment due to various factors.

He pointed to restrictions related to Shah Porir Dwip cattle corridor, Teknaf land port, limitations on tourism in Saint Martin's Island, and the dominance of business syndicates as key reasons behind growing joblessness in the area.

He added that attempts had been made to eliminate drugs through crossfire, but those efforts had failed.

"If I am elected in the upcoming polls, we will eliminate drugs by creating massive employment opportunities for the people," Anwari said.

The rally was presided over by Teknaf Municipality Jamaat-e-Islami President Muhammad Rabiul Alam.

Among others present as special guests were Cox's Bazar district Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary Zahedul Islam, Social Welfare Secretary Nurul Hossain Siddiqui, Upazila Jamaat Ameer Maulana Rafiqullah, Assistant Secretary Sarwar Kamal Sikder, former acting mayor of Teknaf Municipality Mohammad Ismail, former district president of Islami Chhatra Shibir Abdur Rahim Nuri, NCP upazila coordinator Sayem Sikder, Baha Uddin, and former municipal councillor Moniruzzaman.
Later in the evening, around 6:00pm, another election street rally was held at Shamlapur Bazar in Baharchhara Union.

Speaking as the chief guest at the second rally, Anwari said, "With your cooperation, prayers and votes, if we get the opportunity to run the country, we will, InshaAllah, free Bangladesh from all forms of corruption and turn it into a dignified and successful state."
