Journos assaulted in N'singdi

At least 10 to 12 journalists have sustained critical injuries in an attack brought out by a group of miscreants in Narsingdi.

The incident took place in front of Dream Holiday Park in Narsingdi on Monday evening.

The victims include Shahed, Mohsin, and Lalon, a staff member of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association (CRAB). Among them, six were critically wounded in the sudden attack.

However, police have detained two individuals in connection with the incident.

According to eyewitnesses, the group of journalists were about to heading back to Dhaka after concluding of CRAB’s Family Day program in the park. At that time, a group of local assailants demanded extortion from them. 

As the journalists protested, an argument ensued, which eventually escalated into a violent attack on them, leaving 10 to 12 of them injured.

Narsingdi Superintendent of Police Md Abdullah Al-Faruk said that police rushed to the scene upon receiving the information and detained two suspects, who were taken to the police station. 

He added that the injured journalists were rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital for treatment.

Responding to the incident, CRAB Executive Committee condemned the attack and said it would file a case with Madhabdi Police Station over the incident.
