Candidates pledge development, fair polls at Pirojpur Dialogue

PIROJPUR, January 31: Contesting candidates for the national election met in a face-to-face open dialogue on the town club premises on Saturday noon.

The event was organised by Sushasaner Janno Nagorik - Sujan Pirojpur. Candidates Alamgir Hossain of the BNP and Masood Sayedee of Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh took part in. Sujan Regional Coordinator Masudur Rahman Ranju conducted the session.

BNP candidate Alamgir Hossain highlighted employment creation, fighting corruption, environmental development, river embankment construction, smooth road communication, drug elimination, and fulfilling the BNP's declared 31-point development programmes.

Jamaat candidate Masood Sayedee stated that bribery must be rooted out from society. He emphasised comprehensive development in the constituency. Skill development for teachers and the jobless, along with technology-based elections, would be introduced.

Both candidates assured the audience they would uphold voters' decisions through the casting of ballots with an open mind. They also committed to a free, fair, and peaceful election with no violence before or after the polls.

Sujan District Secretary Sheikh Shah Alam spoke at the event. President Moniruzzman Nasim and other members were present.

Later, both candidates answered questions from the audience. Party leaders, supporters, and the general public attended the programme.
