Amar Ekushey Book Fair to begin Feb 20

The Amar Ekushey Book Fair 2026 will begin on February 20 and continue until March 15, Bangla Academy officials announced at a press conference held at the Shahid Munier Chowdhury meeting room of the academy on Thursday afternoon.

Amar Ekushey Book Fair Member Secretary Dr Md Selim Reza disclosed the decision at the briefing, saying the date had been finalised after multiple meetings of the fair management committee.

In a written statement, he said Bangla Academy has long been organising the month-long Amar Ekushey Book Fair and cultural programmes in collaboration with publishers and partners as part of the Ekushey observances commemorating the language martyrs. 

"Due to unavoidable circumstances, it was not possible to start the book fair on February 1 as in other years. After considering all aspects, it has been decided to start the Amar Ekushey Book Fair on February 20," he said, adding that the management committee had already been formed and the opening date unanimously approved.
