Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) southern region chief organizer Hassanat Abdullah on Sunday urged voters to protect the integrity of the upcoming election, describing it as a vote to end authoritarianism.

Speaking at an election rally organized by 11-party alliance at government college grounds at Shahjadpur upazila in Sirajganj district, he warned those attempting to seize polling stations that they would face consequences.

“Those preparing to capture polling centers should leave home with prayers. If you try to take over, you won’t be able to return safely. We will ensure that people can vote securely,” he said.

Hassanat emphasized the stakes of 13th national parliamentary election, stating that the outcome would determine country’s governance, conduct of law enforcement, judicial system and the country’s political framework for the next century.

He criticized past elections, highlighting the alleged bribery and manipulation involving police officials and warned that any attempt to rig the vote or exploit the electorate this time would not be tolerated.

During the rally, NCP candidate SM Saif Mostafiz received Shapla Koli election symbol. The event was also attended by Rafiqul Islam Khan, central assistant secretary-general of Jamaat-e-Islami, as the chief guest.
