A woman was allegedly gang-raped by three cleaning staff members at Natore Modern Sadar Hospital while attending to her ailing daughter.

The victim’s father filed a case with Natore Sadar Police Station on Tuesday afternoon.

Following the complaint, police conducted a drive and arrested all three accused, identified as Amit, 23, Anil, 24, and Prangon, 23, all residents of Alaipur Sweeper Colony in Natore town.

According to the case statement, the victim had admitted her daughter to the hospital's pediatric ward on Friday due to fever and cold. On Sunday night around 10:00 PM, Amit lured the mother away under the pretext of providing medicine, leading her to a staircase room on the sixth floor where he violated her.

Subsequently, the other two accused, Anil and Prangon, who had secretly recorded the incident on video, blackmailed the victim with the footage and raped her as well.

The incident came to light when duty nurses noticed the child crying due to the mother’s prolonged absence. Hospital Ansar members were alerted, and after reviewing CCTV footage, they detained the three suspects from the sixth-floor staircase.

An Ansar member, speaking on condition of anonymity, stated that the accused confessed to the crime during initial questioning.

Contradicting the case statement regarding his presence during the detention, Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr. Mahbubur Rahman claimed he only learned of the matter the following morning. He also noted that a written mutual settlement had initially taken place between the cleaning staff and the patient's relatives before police were notified.

Meanwhile, Natore Civil Surgeon Dr. Muhammad Mashiur Rahman said neither party officially informed him, but he instructed police to take action immediately upon hearing rumors of the incident.

Natore Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Munsur Rahman, confirmed the arrests and stated that the accused would be forwarded to court.
