Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) spokesperson Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan on Sunday warned that those attempting to seize polling centers and suppress voters’ rights would face consequences similar to previous leaders who manipulated elections.

Speaking as the chief guest at an election rally for Pirojpur-1 candidate Dr. Shamim Hamidi, organized by 11-party alliance at Shaheed Mostofa Playground of Mathbaria, he said, “We have seen what happened to those who previously stole votes, captured polling centers and deprived citizens of their voting rights; they are now in Delhi. Let it be clear: anyone attempting to take over centers again will meet the same fate.”

Asif Mahmud emphasized that the people of Bangladesh now expect capable, honest and accountable leadership, and that Shapla Koli symbol represents this change.

He criticized the ruling party for allegedly depriving citizens of their voting rights over the past 17 years, asserting that the people of the country would strongly resist any such attempts again.

The rally, presided over by Mathbaria upazila Ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami Mohammad Abdul Jalil Sharif, also featured speeches by NCP joint chief organizer Dr. Mahmuda Mitu, Jatiya Jubo Shakti convener Advocate Tarikul Islam, Pirojpur-3 (Mathbaria) candidate Dr. Shamim Hamidi, Pirojpur-2 Jamaat candidate Shamim Saidi, and Mathbaria upazila Jamaat secretary Abul Kalam Azad.
