Bangladesh embassy in Athens engages students in cultural, educational exchange

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Athens visited Latseio American College (Primary School) on 6 February 2025 to promote awareness of Bangladesh’s culture, heritage and traditions among students.

The delegation was led by H.E. Ms. Nahida Rahman Shumona, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Greece, and was warmly welcomed by the school’s Director, Mrs. Dimitra Panagouli.

During the visit, Ambassador Shumona delivered an engaging presentation on Bangladesh’s history, culture, language, and traditions, which was met with keen interest from the students. A short promotional video on Bangladesh was screened and received enthusiastic applause.

The program also featured an interactive quiz on Bangladesh, encouraging students to actively participate. At the conclusion, bookmarks displaying the Bengali alphabet were distributed, and the Bengali and Greek alphabets were shown side by side to enhance cultural and linguistic understanding. Students asked questions, shared observations, and expressed appreciation throughout the session.

Following the visit, the school administration and teaching staff thanked the Embassy for the informative program and expressed interest in future cooperation, including similar initiatives at other educational institutions to promote Bangladesh’s cultural heritage. The exchange concluded with the mutual presentation of commemorative gifts.

The visit highlighted the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to strengthen cultural and educational ties between Bangladesh and Greece while encouraging students to learn about Bangladesh’s rich traditions and language.
