Different political parties, religious organisations and civic bodies have congratulated victorious candidates following the 13th Jatiya Sangsad elections held on 12 February 2026, describing the outcome as a significant political moment. The success of nationalist forces, they said, reflects public confidence and renewed democratic engagement.
Firoz Mohammad Liton, chairman of the Progressive Nationalist Party (PNP), and its secretary general Lion Ahmedur Rahman, in a joint statement, congratulated BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman and the people of Bangladesh. They said the result marked the culmination of 17 years of political struggle and underscored the electorate's trust in nationalist leadership. The PNP leaders urged all political parties to use the mandate to advance national welfare and democratic stability.
Khelafat Majlis, which contested the polls, also welcomed the results. Its candidate Mufti Abul Hasan won the Sylhet-5 constituency with 78,955 votes on the wall clock symbol, defeating his nearest rival, who secured 68,869 votes, according to party sources. The party's Central Election Management Committee, led by Convener Professor Abdullah Farid and Secretary Professor Abdul Jalil, congratulated the newly elected lawmaker and called on him to honour the trust placed in him by voters. The committee, however, raised concerns over alleged irregularities in Narayanganj-5 and demanded a recount.
The Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council praised what it described as the generally peaceful conduct of the polls. In a statement, the council thanked the interim government, the Election Commission, law enforcement agencies and participating political parties, while stressing the need to uphold democratic norms and communal harmony.
Gono Odhikar Parishad and Islami Andolan Bangladesh also extended congratulations to the winners, urging them to fulfil campaign pledges and work in the broader public interest.
Political analysts say the cross-party acknowledgements signal a constructive start for the new parliament and underscore the importance of cooperation, accountability and inclusive governance in the months ahead.
