Three more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours leading up to 8:00am on Saturday, raising the overall death toll from the ongoing outbreak to 963.
With the latest figures, the total number of suspected measles deaths has reached 864, while the number of confirmed deaths remained unchanged at 99, as no new confirmed measles deaths were reported in the last 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
It said on Saturday in their daily measles report that among the three new suspected fatalities, the highest concentration was recorded in Dhaka, with two deaths reported while another one from Khulna division.
A total of 886 suspected measles cases were recorded in the 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the overall suspected case tally to 155,678.
During the same period, 57 new confirmed measles cases were reported, bringing the total number of confirmed infections to 18,853.
According to the DGHS, a total of 136,257 suspected measles patients have been hospitalized across the country since March 15, of whom 131,264 have recovered and been discharged from hospitals.
