NARAYANGANJ,Feb 14: The newly elected Member of Parliament (MP) for the Narayanganj-2 constituency and BNP's Dhaka Divisional Joint Organising Secretary Nazrul Islam Azad has pledged to make Araihazar Upazila, known for dacoity, free from dacoits.
A huge crowd of people gathered at the residence of the newly elected Azad in the Pancharukhi area of Araihazar, Narayanganj. On this occasion, he was greeted with floral tributes by leaders and activists.
In a reaction to the media on Saturday afternoon, Nazrul Islam Azad said, "I will definitely keep my promises. I had made pledges regarding various issues, including gas, drainage system, and the construction of bridges and roads. Furthermore, I have assured everyone that Araihazar will be made free from dacoits by arranging employment for them. I have promised to introduce a family card for mothers and sisters, a farmer's card, old-age allowances, scholarship for meritorious students, and medical treatment."
"I consider the people of Araihazar as my own family. Just as they stood by me by breaking all barriers of conspiracy, I too want to stand by them. I dedicate my victory to the people of Arahazar," he added.
Azad further stated, "In the recently concluded election, a special force directly assisted the Jamaat-e-Islami in Araihazar.
They caused many problems for our leaders and activists. They beat up our agents. Yet, the people of Araihazar gave a fitting reply, which was proven through the vote. For this reason, I am grateful and indebted to the people of Araihazar. I will value the interests of the people of Araihazar until my last breath."
Referring to the rebel candidate as a hypocrite, he said, "Ataur Rahman Khan Angur has been expelled for going against the party's decision. Parveen Akhtar has also been expelled. You surely know what controversial things they have done. The party will certainly investigate and take action against them."
Nazrul Islam Azad was elected as MP from the Narayanganj-2 (Araihazar) constituency, receiving 1,25,063 votes on the symbol of the 'Paddy Sheaf'.
