7 held while preparing for robbery

Police arrested seven alleged robbers along with locally made arms while preparing for a robbery at Kotwali police station area in Chattogram district on Sunday night.

The arrested were identified as Md Alamgir Hossain alias Alam, 36, Md Taslim, 39, Md Rasel, 22, Arafat Hossain, 22, Md Ayat Badsha, 22, Md Hasan, 22 and Md Hridoy, 21.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive near the old railway station area and arrested them.

Police also recovered 4 knives and a steel chain from their possessions.

Kotwali police station officer-in-charge (OC) Md Aftab Uddin confirmed the incident and said that the arrested have been produced before the court for taking legal action.
