Ramadan moon sighted in Saudi Arabia; fasting begins Wednesday

The crescent moon marking the start of the holy month of Ramadan has been sighted in Saudi Arabia. 

The Saudi government announced the start of Ramadan 1447 Hijri  on Tuesday evening, confirming that the first day of fasting will commence on Wednesday.

According to the official website Haramain, “The crescent moon has been formally sighted in Saudi Arabia, marking the beginning of the blessed month of Ramadan 1447 Hijri from tonight.”

Authorities also conveyed prayers for the faithful, stating, “May Allah accept our fasting, nightly prayers and acts of worship and grant us the ability to spend the precious moments of this blessed month in ways that earn His pleasure. Ameen.”
