BNP's landslide victory in S’ganj Bar Assoc polls

SIRAJGANJ, Feb 17: The panel nominated by the Nationalist Lawyers' Forum has secured a landslide victory in the 2026-27 Executive Committee election of Sirajganj District Bar Association. Out of the 17 posts, this panel won 16, while one independent candidate was elected as a member.

Shakil Mohammad Sharifur Haider Rafiq Sarkar, the candidate from the BNP-backed Nationalist Lawyers' Forum nominated panel, was elected president, securing 207 votes. His nearest rival, the Jamaat-backed candidate Md. Rafiqul Islam Selim, received 90 votes. Md. Humayun Kabir Colonel was elected general secretary, receiving 137 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat's Md. Masudur Rahman Masud, secured 116 votes.

Voting began at 9 am and continued until 4 pm on Monday across seven booths on the second floor of the Bar Association building. The total number of voters was 430. The results were announced after vote counting continued until late night.
