TANGAIL, Feb 18: The sale of products by the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) at fair prices has been inaugurated in Tangail on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan.
The programme was inaugurated in the town on Tuesday morning by the Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Sadar Md. Shaheen Mia.
According to district administration sources, in collaboration with the district administration on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, TCB products will be sold for 20 days, excluding weekly and government holidays, from 17 February to 12 March. Five trucks will operate at a total of 50 locations across 12 unions and the municipality of Sadar upazila, serving 400 low-income families daily. Each family will be provided with two kilograms of masoor dal (lentils) and soya bean oil, one kilogram of sugar, chickpeas (subject to stock), and 500 grams of dates (subject to stock). The price of each package at the consumer level is Tk 590.
The Upazila Nirbahi Officer of Sadar Md. Shaheen Mia stated that TCB products will be sold to consumers via trucks every day except holidays from Tuesday onwards. He warned that the government will not tolerate any negligence by dealers in this regard.
It is reported that there are 168,711 TCB-registered cardholder families across the 12 upazilas of the district. These products will be sold to all of them simultaneously, subject to product availability.
