Court orders seizure of Sheikh Rehana's husband Shafique's tax records

A Dhaka court has ordered the seizure of income tax records belonging to Shafique Ahmed Siddique, husband of Sheikh Rehana and brother-in-law of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, as part of an ongoing corruption investigation.

Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Sabbir Foyez issued the order on Tuesday following a petition from the Anti-Corruption Commission. 

The agency is probing allegations that Siddique amassed assets worth about Tk 86.54 million beyond known sources of income.

Investigators said reviewing his tax records from fiscal years 2013–14 through 2024–25 is necessary to verify his income, expenditures and ownership of any additional assets as the case proceeds.
