The government has formally detailed the responsibilities of ten newly appointed advisers serving under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman through an official gazette notification released this week.

The appointments reflect a structured division of authority with five advisers granted ministerial rank and the remaining five designated at the state minister level.

Three senior figures have taken on broad political advisory roles at the ministerial level. Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed, Nazrul Islam Khan, and Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed will serve as political advisers to the prime minister, providing strategic guidance on governance matters.

Ismail Zabiyullah has assumed responsibility for the ministry of public administration while Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir will oversee both the finance and planning ministries, combining two critical economic portfolios under a single advisory position.

At the state minister level, the government has distributed portfolios across multiple sectors. Humayun Kabir holds an expansive mandate covering foreign affairs, disaster management and relief, and civil aviation and tourism. Brigadier General Shamsul Islam, who has retired from active military service, takes charge of defence matters.

Dr. Jahedur Rahman will focus on policy and strategy issues while Mahdi Amin handles a diverse portfolio spanning education, primary and mass education, expatriates welfare and overseas employment, and labour and employment.

Rehan Asif Asad rounds out the advisory team with responsibility for posts, telecommunications and information technology alongside science and technology.

The gazette notification formalizes the administrative structure supporting the prime minister as the government moves forward with its policy agenda.
