Asif Nazrul returns to DU after adviser stint

Prof Dr Asif Nazrul has returned to Dhaka University (DU) after serving as an Adviser to the interim government for one and a half years, rejoining the law department where he previously worked.

He resumed teaching at the university's law department last week following the handover of responsibilities to the new government after the 13th national parliament election.

Asif Nazrul had taken up the role of adviser for law, justice and parliamentary affairs in the interim government after August 5, 2024. He was later given charge of the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment. Towards the end of his tenure, he also briefly served as sports adviser.

M Mokhtar Ahmed, senior administrative officer of the university's law department, confirmed that Asif Nazrul joined the department on Thursday, February 19. He also informed that the professor has moved into his campus residence.

The return marks the end of Asif Nazrul's public service stint with the interim administration, which concluded after the recent parliamentary elections paved the way for a new government to take charge.
