Severed hands,feet found on Dhaka roads 

Fingerprints identified

Police have recovered a severed two leg and two hands from the side of the road in Dhaka's Naya Paltan, Gulistan and Kamalapur areas.

Later, through fingerprints, police found that the four dismembered body parts belonged to a 30-year-old man named Obaidullah; his home is in Narsingdi's Shibpur.

A leg was recovered from in front of Anand Community Center in Naya Paltan around 2 am on Friday, two hands from in front of Baitul Mukarram on Saturday around 9:30 am, and another leg was recovered from Kamalapur area later in the afternoon, said Mohammad Harun-ur-Rashid, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Deputy Commissioner (Motijheel Division).

"We have been able to initially identify the person. We are not sure whether the severed body parts belong to the same person. However, it is suspected to be the same person," he added.

"The search is on for the remaining body parts, and CCTV footage from the scene and the surrounding area is being reviewed to identify those who left the dismembered parts," this official said.

In response to a question, Harun-ur-Rashid said that the home address of the deceased youth has been contacted. "There is nothing to say in detail yet, we are working on it."

Meanwhile, Paltan Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mustafa Kamal Khan said that the body parts have been sent to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) morgue for a special autopsy. Efforts are underway to recover the remaining body parts.
