Khulna Jubo league leader held from capital’s Paltan

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested a local leader of Khulna Jubo League from capital’s Paltan area late Thursday night.

The arrested was identified as Shawkat Hossain, president of Khulna Jubo League’s Ward 26 unit.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive, arrested him and taken him into custody around 12:15 AM on Friday from Polwell Market in the capital’s Paltan.

Khulna DB officer-in-charge (OC) Taymur Islam confirmed the detention and said that further legal procedures are underway.

Shawkat faces multiple cases, including extortion, land grabbing and attacks on anti-discrimination student movements. After his arrest, he was immediately transported back to Khulna.
