To prevent the smuggling of fuel and essential commodities into Myanmar, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has intensified round-the-clock patrol operations in coastal and border areas.

Amid the ongoing global energy crisis, concerns have increased over the potential illegal trafficking of fuel and essential goods from Bangladesh into Myanmar. In response, the Bangladesh Coast Guard has taken the highest level of precautionary measures to curb such activities, according to a press release.

It stated that authorities have already strengthened patrol operations and intelligence surveillance across coastal border regions and inland waterways. Continuous day-and-night patrols are being conducted, particularly in coastal zones, maritime routes, and areas adjacent to the border, to ensure that no unscrupulous groups can illegally smuggle fuel or other essential commodities out of the country.

Coast Guard stated that operations against smuggling will continue in order to safeguard the country's economy and maintain stability in the domestic market.

Residents of coastal areas have also been urged to remain vigilant about illegal activities.
