27 families get Zakat gifts in Feni

FENI, Mar 12: Professor Taybul Haque, former principal of Feni Government College, has said that the Feni Voluntary Initiative is having a positive impact on society through its various programmes. 

He made this comment while speaking as the chief guest at a Zakat gift distribution ceremony, organised by Feni Voluntary Initiative, on Tuesday at the Language Martyr Salam Community Centre in the town. Twenty-seven families received the gifts.

The event was presided over by the organisation's President Faizul Haque Bappi and conducted by Member Asaduzzaman Dara. Special guests included Dr. Sohrab Al Hossain Tanvir, Upazila Health Officer for Sadar; Omar Faruk Bhuiyan Belal, former panel mayor of Feni Municipality; organisation adviser Rotarian Jalal Uddin Bablu; senior journalist Muhammad Abu Taher Bhuiyan; and Shanti Chowdhury, General Secretary of Feni Development Community. 

Nasim Anwar Jaki, General Secretary of the organisation, delivered the welcome address, expressing gratitude to all present. Speeches were also given by Mohammad Shahadat Hossain, Editor of Feni's Samoy; Lion Haji Din Mohammad; and volunteer organiser Osman Gani Russell.
Also present were Ariful Amin Rizvi, Editor of Dainik Feni, and Farid Uddin Ahmed, Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil School.

During the event, gifts worth a total of Tk 200,000, including corrugated iron sheets, sewing machines, wheelchairs and cash, were distributed to 27 families. On the day, the chief guest handed over the organisation's 25th sewing machine.
