A parked train caught fire at Parbatipur of Dinajpur district.

This incident took place at the junction station on Sunday night.

It is reported that the Ramna Commuter train, was standing at Dock Yard No. 2  of the station. At around 12 midnight on Sunday, the senior deputy assistant engineering/electrical employees of the railway found the train's power car broken on the floor.
Later, stuffs stationed in the yard, started welding work on the power car.

According to the rules, the fuel tank in the power car was supposed to be emptied before the welding work, but these workers from a different department were working without waiting for it. At one point, when the welding torch fell on the floor, it came into contact with fuel and instantly spread throughout the entire compartment and the fire spread out of control and the welding workers fled the scene.

Receiving the information, the Parbatipur Fire Service and Civil Defense Station personnel reached the spot and brought the blaze under their  control at 1:10AM.

However, no casualties were reported.

Masud Rana Nayan, the senior deputy assistant engineer of Parbatipur who was leading the welding, refused to talk to reporters when asked about the incident.

Miraj, a temporary (TLR) employee of the Railways' Train Passing Department who was assisting in the welding work at the scene said that even though they were employees of the Train Passing Department, they were asked to do the welding work. While working, the generator oil on the floor first caught fire and it spread quickly. The fire incident mainly occurred due to the incompetence of the employees.

Station Master of Parbatipur Junction Station (SM) Rezaul Islam could not be found for a statement.

Regarding the incident, Inspector Ahsan Habib of the Railway Security Force Parbatipur stated that the fire service was immediately informed after receiving the first news through the RNB members on duty. Later, the fire service, Railway Security Force, Railway Police brought the fire under control with the help of the local residents.

Lalmonirhat Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) Mohammad Taslim Ahmed Khan could not be reached even after contacting him over  mobile phone several times.
