Woman held with 4,500 Yaba pills in Gopalganj

Gopalganj Detective Branch (DB) Police arrested a young woman along with 4,500 yaba tablets during a drive in Gopalganj sadar upazila on Sunday.

The arrested woman was identified as Brishti Mondal, 19, from Bhennabari village under Gopalganj sadar upazila.

According to police, a DB team conducted a raid at North Bhennabari village and apprehended Brishti red-handed with the contraband in front of a closed raw-material shop on the Gopalganj"Tekerhat regional highway.

She allegedly procured the narcotics at low prices from Teknaf in Cox’s Bazar district with the assistance of her sister, Seema Mondal, and supplied them at wholesale rates to different areas of Gopalganj district.

Gopalganj DB Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Sanjoy Malo said that 4,500 yaba tablets were recovered from Brishti's possession during the drive.

During preliminary interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed that she had been involved in yaba trafficking for a long time.

Police said legal action is being taken against the accused and a case is being processed with Gopalganj Sadar Police Station.
