FENI, Apr 3: Sadia Afroz Turag, a daughter of Rampur Ahmed Ali Patwari Bari in Feni Municipality, has become the first Bangladeshi American woman to take on the challenging responsibility of controlling US airspace.
Her achievement marks a historic milestone, bringing honour to the red green flag on an international stage.
Sadia is the daughter of Harun ur Rashid and Tabenda Harun, residents of Rampur and now permanent residents in the United States. Her father, a noted social worker, expressed his pride in an emotional Facebook post, describing the day as one of the proudest moments of their lives.
He wrote that Sadia has been appointed as an air traffic controller under the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), making her the first Bangladeshi American woman to hold such a prestigious role.
He added that she graduated with a gold medal, and from that day the family began to dream big for her future. "But today we realise this dream was not only ours-it is the result of her hard work, patience, and determination," he said.
Family members and locals in Feni have also expressed pride in her achievement, saying it sets an inspiring example for young Bangladeshis worldwide.
