Lightning kills youth at Taltali

TALTALI, BARGUNA, June 8: A teenager died in a lightning strike in Panchakoralia Union of Taltali Upazila of the district on Sunday noon.

The deceased was Md Oliullah, 17, son of Md Lokman Hakim of the union and a fish farmer by profession.

Acting Chairman of the Union Parishad Ruhul Amin Munshi said that like every morning, he went fishing in the Payra River with his father. At that time, a sudden storm and rain started and lightning struck. Oliullah died on the spot and his father narrowly escaped with his life.

Officer-in-Charge (Investigation) of Taltali Police Station Md Shariful Islam confirmed the matter.
