NAOGAON, Apr 4:  Naogaon Deputy Commissioner (DC) Mohammad Saiful Islam stressed that sustainable development cannot be achieved without creative education. He said students must be nurtured not only with textbook knowledge but also with creativity, ethics, and human values to build a progressive and sustainable society.

He made the remarks while addressing the annual sports, cultural competition, and prize-giving ceremony of Proshika Vidyaniketan in Naogaon on Thursday afternoon.

The day-long programme created a festive atmosphere on the school premises, attended by students, teachers, guardians, and local dignitaries. The event was chaired by Proshika Vidyaniketan President Md Jamis Uddin and conducted by head teacher Kazi Kamal Hossain. Special guests included Acting Chief Executive Officer of the District Council SM Zakir Hossain, NDC Shah Mo Rashed, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Ibnul Abedin, Proshika Human Development Centre director G. Azam, Rizuowanus Shamim Rajib, and Central Manager Mizanur Rahman.

In her welcome speech, Kazi Shila Sultana, head of Proshika's Education Division, highlighted the institution's initiatives. Officials, teachers, students, guardians, and community members were present.

In his keynote address, the DC said students must acquire multidimensional skills to survive in today's competitive world. "Sports and cultural activities play a vital role in physical and mental development. Through these, students become confident and responsible citizens," he noted.

He praised Proshika Vidyaniketan for introducing modern and distinctive teaching methods. "Alongside lessons, emphasis is placed on character building and human values, which are hallmarks of an ideal institution," he said. He added that if private initiatives complement government efforts, positive changes in the education sector will accelerate. Expanding Proshika's model nationwide would significantly improve education quality.

The programme featured sports competitions, cultural performances, and creative activities with enthusiastic student participation. Winners received prizes in the closing session.

Speakers said Proshika launched Vidyaniketan in Naogaon as a pilot project, which has already gained wide recognition for its quality and contemporary approach. Plans are underway to expand similar initiatives across the country.
