An emergency measles-rubella (MR) vaccination campaign began on Sunday morning in 30 high-risk hotspot of 18 districts to coup up with the  outbreaks.

The vaccination began at 9AM will continue till 5PM.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Hossain launched the campaign in Dhaka's Nawabganj at 9AM which will be given to children aged six months to less than five years.

After inaugurating the campaign in Gazipur Sadar upazila, state minister Dr MA Muhit said, ''Those who  already infected with measles or fever will not be given this vaccine for the time being. Later, this vaccination program will be expanded in phases to those districts where the measles outbreak is increasing or has increased.''

"If we can ensure vaccination of all the children, we will be safe. The children of our country will be healthy and safe. We have started working responsibly. InshaAllah, there will be no shortage of vaccines. Several health organizations around the world are cooperating in the vaccination program," he added.
