In a refreshing departure from conventional festive fairs, BCCB Women organized a unique Eid Mela on Tuesdau (April 7) in Canada's Scarborough, centered on the values of generosity, sustainability and community bonding.

The initiative brought people together not for commerce, but for compassion; encouraging participants to share resources and support one another.

The distinctive Eid Mela marked a meaningful milestone for the local community by introducing a no-buy, no-sell concept; an approach rarely seen in such events in Canada.

Instead of commercial transactions, attendees were invited to bring new or gently used clothing, bags, children’s toys, and books to exchange freely. This initiative not only fostered a spirit of giving but also promoted sustainable practices through reuse.

The event was led by Team Leader Taniza Reza, whose coordination ensured a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants.

She was supported by the founders of the organization, Rimon Mahmud and Shaima Hassan, whose vision continues to drive community-oriented programs.

Organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to Khazana Mithai in Scarborough for generously providing the venue and supporting the initiative.

They also acknowledged the dedication of volunteers whose efforts played a crucial role in organizing and distributing items efficiently.

Participants and contributors were thanked for embracing the event’s core values of empathy and generosity, which defined the atmosphere throughout the day.

Reaffirming their mission, BCCB Women emphasized their commitment to continuing such initiatives that uplift individuals and families through collective support, strengthening the fabric of the community.
