2 robbery gang members held with arms-ammo in B'baria

Police arrested two members of a gang of robbers with domestic weapons in Ashuganj upazila of Brahmanbaria district early Thusday. 

A team of Ashuganj Police Station conducted a drive based on a tip-off at Sonarampur area of the upazila. 

The arrested are Rifat ,25, and Salauddin,39. Both of them are from Aruail area of Sarail upazila.

According to police sources, a group of 10-12 robbers were preparing to rob a mosque in front of Noor-e-Madina Jame Mosque on the Sonarampur-Talshahar road.

Sensing the presence of police, they tried to run away and the duo got arrested. 

However, the other unidentified members escaped.

A knife and a locally-made weapons were recovered from them and seized as per the rules.

During initial interrogation, police confirmed that Rifat had two cases of theft and one robbery against him, while Salahuddin had four. 

Ashuganj Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Billal Hossain confirmed the incident and said that regular cases have been filed against the arrested persons and sent to court.
