Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Haque Milon has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving the country’s education system, emphasizing accountability, reforms and teacher development.

He made the remarks on Monday while speaking as the chief guest at a view exchange meeting held at Jashore Primary Teachers' Training Institute auditorium.

The meeting was organized ahead of SSC and equivalent examinations 2026, with participation from centre secretaries under Jashore Education Board as well as madrasa and technical education boards of Khulna division.

The minister said the government aims to elevate the country’s education system to a higher level, stressing that education has been given top priority.

He also highlighted past contributions to improving teachers’ benefits, while criticizing the previous government for alleged financial irregularities in the education sector.

Emphasizing accountability, he stated that he is willing to be held responsible for his actions and invited opposition lawmakers to raise issues against him in parliament if necessary.

During an interactive question-and-answer session with teachers, the minister outlined several planned reforms. These include reducing time wastage in the education system, preventing digital cheating in examinations, removing commercial activities from educational institutions and introducing a new education policy.

He further noted that comprehensive training programs will be provided for teachers, describing them as key contributors to nation-building.

He urged educators to focus on developing skilled human resources, fostering social progress and promoting a progressive society.

Among others, Nargis Begum, a noted educationist and Vice Chairman of Bangladesh Nationalist Party, spoke as a distinguished guest.

Several Members of Parliament also attended the event as special guests, along with chairpersons of madrasa and technical education boards.

The program was chaired by Asma Begum, Chairman of Jashore Education Board.

More than 500 centre secretaries from different education boards in Khulna division were present at the meeting.

Government officials, media representatives and teachers from various public and private schools and colleges also attended.

Later in the afternoon, the minister joined another event at Jashore University of Science and Technology.
