PIROJPUR, Apr 13: Pirojpur Science and Technology University (PRSTU) celebrated its 5th University Day in a joyful and festive manner.
Flag hoisting, balloon and festoon releasing, colourful rally, greetings exchange, cake cutting, and a discussion meeting were organised on Monday morning in the town.
Vice-Chancellor (VC) Professor Dr Md Shahidul Islam inaugurated the programme as the chief guest. Later, a colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the administrative building and, after parading the main roads, ended at the same venue. Students, teachers, guests, officials and locals took part in the rally.
A discussion meeting was also organised here, where the VC attended as chief guest while the Dean of the Science Faculty and Proctor, Associate Professor Dr Akter Hossain, presided over the meeting.
The VC said, "I am happy and glad to see the lively and joyful presence of students, teachers and others. Students have to compete with students of other universities across the country. You have to prepare yourselves to be the best."
A master plan aiming at the upcoming 50 years is being prepared as a detailed development proposal. Two institutions are working on the issue.
Among others, District Council Administrator Principal Alamgir Hossain, Press Club President SM Rezaul Islam Shameem, senior journalist Moniruzzaman Nasim, Ziaul Ahsan, Chairman of the Mathematics Department Dr Md Mosarrof Hossain, Chairman of the Statistics Department Dr Md Musa Khan, and Assistant Provost Nazma Akter spoke on the occasion.
