NATORE, Apr 18: A total of 15,331 children have been vaccinated against measles in the district.
The vaccination programme began in Natore on April 4 and is progressing steadily across the district's various upazilas and municipalities.
According to official sources at Natore Sadar Hospital, the Health Department's research institute confirmed measles infections in 15 children in the area. Among them, seven are currently undergoing treatment, while the rest have been discharged. The infection rate is now on the decline.
The hospital authority is working diligently on the matter, the source said. Under these circumstances, the hospital's preparedness against measles has helped ease public anxiety.
Physicians continue to advise people to remain cautious about the disease.
Meanwhile, the local Health Department remains on alert, emphasising preventive measures alongside proper patient care.
Dr. Kamal Uddin Bhuiyan, Civil Surgeon of Natore, informed that the vaccination programme is ongoing in the district, with particular focus on high-risk areas. He added that 15,331 children have so far been vaccinated in the district, which may help break the chain of transmission of the disease.
