Three teenagers drown at Singra, Kamalnagar

Three teenagers drowned in two separate incidents in Singra Upazila of Natore District and Kamalnagar Upazila of Laxmipur District on Friday.

SINGRA, NATORE: Two siblings drowned in a pond near their house in Bara Adimpur Village of Dahiya Union in Singra Upazila of the district on Friday noon. 

The deceased Tamim Hossain, 12, and Fahim Hossain, 13, were the sons of Abdul Momin, a Malaysian expatriate from Shahjahanpur in Sherpur Upazila of Bogura District. 

It is learnt that they had been living with their mother in their maternal grandparents' house in Bara Adimpur Village. 

Officer-in-Charge of Singra Police Station Rafiqul Islam said that the two children fell into a newly dug pond near their house and went missing at 12:30 pm on Friday. 

After a while, their bodies were recovered and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctor on duty declared them dead.

KAMALNAGAR, LAXMIPUR: A schoolboy drowned in the Battirkhal (canal) in Ward No. 8 of Charmartin Union under Kamalnagar Upazila of the district on Friday afternoon. 

Deceased Md Rabbi, 10, was the son of Nuru Majhi of the area. 

He was a class two student of the local K Alam Government Primary School.

According to locals and family members, Rabbi went to bathe with his friends in the canal connected to the Meghna River in the afternoon. 

At one point, he was swept away due to the strong current. 

Later, locals recovered Rabbi's body from the bottom of the canal around 5 pm.
