Former Nilphamari-2 lawmaker and veteran freedom fighter Md. Shamsuddoha passed away on Monday (April 20) at the age of 84 while undergoing treatment at BIRDEM General Hospital in the capital, family members confirmed.
Shamsuddoha was the executive president of Gono Forum, a prominent leader of the 1969 mass uprising, and an important organizer of the country's Liberation War.
He had also served as president and general secretary of the Student Union and was later elected to parliament from the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB).
Different political parties expressed deep sorrow over his death and conveyed sympathy to his bereaved family members.
