A human chain formed on Monday by Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) at Dhaka University (DU) demanded execution of former interim government chief adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.

Six leaders of the banned BCL organised the human chain in front of the DUCSU building.
This information was confirmed by BCL's Joint International Secretary Sheikh Mohammad Nayem.
Speakers alleged that Dr Yunus was responsible for the deaths of over 600 children through the embezzlement of measles vaccine funds.

BCL also presented a six-point demand, including withdrawal of cases against their leaders, release of political prisoners, punishment for those allegedly harassing women and children online, an end to politically motivated appointments using the quota movement as a cover, and restoration of teachers' dignity by punishing those who assaulted educators.

DU Proctor Mohammad Israfil Prang said the university administration identified those involved after noticing the programme on social media.

"This was essentially a very brief programme. They came to the campus, took photographs, and left quickly," he added.

He further said the administration will provide further details regarding security implications.

BCL leader Nayem claimed that a measles vaccine shortage existed during the interim government period, resulting in child deaths. He described the cases against BCL members as a political conspiracy and denied any involvement in attacks on students during July-August uoprise.

Among others, Shibli Sadik, school affairs secretary of DU Chhatra League (DU-CL), Rajib Zaman, DU CL's liberation war affairs secretary, Muhibul Islam, organisational secretary of Bijoy Ekattor Hall-CL, Sabbir Hossain Khoka, joint office secretary of Mohsin Hall-CL, and Imran Hossain, joint cultural secretary of Sir AF Rahman Hall-CL were present at the human chain.

BCL was banned on 23 October last year under the Anti-Terrorism Act by the interim government.
