The Department of Secondary and Higher Education has directed principals of secondary schools to extend institutional cooperation to the "Notun Kuri Sports" April 2026 programme as part of a nationwide initiative for youth sports development.

The directive was made in a notice signed by Professor Md Shahidul Islam, Deputy Director (DD) for Physical Education of the Department of Secondary and Higher Education, and published on the department's website on Thursday.

According to the notice, the programme will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman at the Sylhet District Stadium on 2 May at 3 pm, with simultaneous nationwide rollout linked to the formal launch.

The notice said the programme forms part of the government's policy framework for sports development and directed heads of institutions to undertake a series of measures to facilitate implementation.

Under the directive, institutions have been asked to encourage students aged 12 to 14 to participate in online or on site registration for the programme. Students and teachers are to be informed through notices in classrooms, while related instructions are also to be displayed on institutional notice boards.
