
LALMOHAN, Bhola, Apr 27: A programme to distribute free fertiliser and seeds among farmers was inaugurated in Lalmohan Upazila of Bhola on Monday.
A total of 6,540 small and marginal farmers will benefit from the initiative, launched jointly by the upazila administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension at the Upazila Parishad hallroom in the morning.
Lalmohan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Sifat Bin Sadeq attended the programme as the chief guest and formally inaugurated the distribution.
The initiative has been undertaken under the government's agricultural incentive programme for the 2025-26 fiscal year, aiming to boost the cultivation of Aus paddy and sesame during the Kharif-1 season.
Of the beneficiaries, 6,500 farmers will each receive 5 kg of Aus paddy seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser, and 10 kg of MOP fertiliser. In addition, 40 farmers will be provided with 1 kg of sesame seeds, 10 kg of DAP fertiliser, and 5 kg of MOP fertiliser.
The programme was chaired by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md Abu Hasnain.
Among others present were Lalmohan Upazila BNP President Md Zafar Iqbal, General Secretary Shafiqul Islam Babul, Additional Agriculture Officer Md Ahsan Ullah, Investigation Officer of Lalmohan Police Station Md Masud Hawlader, President of the local press club Md Sohel Aziz Shaheen, District Gono Odhikar Parishad President Atikur Rahman Abu Toyeb, and beneficiary farmers.
