A fuel card-based fuel distribution system at a filling station in Dinajpur's Hili has brought relief to consumers, restoring order in petrol supply and easing long-standing congestion at the pump.
The chaotic queues that previously stretched up to one to one-and-a-half kilometres with hundreds of motorcycles have largely disappeared.
A field visit on Tuesday morning showed a much calmer environment at the station, with fuel availability remaining steady and customer pressure significantly reduced.
The introduction of the card system has helped eliminate irregular sales and ensured more transparent distribution.
Motorcyclists, including Imran Hossain and others, said they previously had to wait for hours in long queues and often returned without fuel.
They added that the new system has made refuelling faster, easier and free from disorder and harassment.
The station manager said that earlier around 3,000 litres of petrol would be sold on a single distribution day. Now, the same volume takes around four to five days to sell, reflecting the reduced congestion and regulated supply system.
He also noted that continuous fuel supply has helped prevent shortages.
Hakimpur (Hili) Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashok Bikram Chakma said the fuel card system has restored transparency and discipline in fuel distribution.
He added that consumers are now receiving fuel in an orderly manner through the card-based system, and the administration remains alert to maintain stability.
