The second Twenty 20 international between Bangladesh and New Zealand was abandoned on Wednesday after relentless rain meant play could not begin.

Match officials called off the contest at Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium, where continuous downpours kept the outfield unfit and prevented the teams from taking the field.

The three match series will now be decided in the final fixture, scheduled for May 2 in Dhaka.

Bangladesh holds a 1-0 advantage after winning the opening match on Monday by six wickets.

Cricket board officials said fans who bought tickets online for Wednesday’s match will be refunded in line with the relevant ticketing policy.
