World Press Freedom Day observed in Tangail

TANGAIL, May 3: On the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day, the Tangail Print Media Association organised a discussion meeting at its temporary office at Battala of the town on Sunday afternoon.

Association President Md Jobayed Mallick Bulbul chaired the event and General Secretary Abu Zubair Ujjal moderated it.

Among others, Association Vice-President Ranjan Krishna Pandit, Office Secretary Jahangir Alam, Executive Member and The Daily Observer Correspondent Sajjad Hossain Lincon, Executive Members Anwar Hossain Nayan, Ruhul Amin and Abu Kawsar spoke.

The speakers said that free and independent journalism is the foundation of democracy. Journalists must play an uncompromising role in the development of society and the state by presenting objective news. At the same time, they emphasised the importance of ensuring the professional safety and rights of journalists.
