A Dhaka court has again deferred the submission of the further investigation report in the murder case of Inquilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, setting May 17 as the new date, marking the 13th delay.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam fixed the date on Tuesday after CID Assistant Superintendent Abdul Kadir Bhuiyan failed to submit the report.
On January 15, complainant Abdullah Al Jaber challenged the Detective Branch (DB) charge sheet, prompting the court to order a reinvestigation.
Hadi was shot on December 12 near the Box Culvert area under Paltan Police Station after Friday prayers and election campaigning. He was later taken to Singapore for treatment, where he died on December 18. The case, initially filed as attempted murder, was later converted into a murder case.
Earlier, DB police charged 17 people, including former ward councillor Taijul Islam Chowdhury Bappi and Faisal Karim Masud. Investigators cited political rivalry as the motive, alleging the murder was planned to disrupt the parliamentary election and instill fear among voters.
