Train crushes truck driver in Jashore

JASHORE, May 11: The driver of a coal-laden truck was killed after being hit by a Khulna-bound Mahananda train in the Bhangagate area of Abhaynagar Upazila of the district on Sunday afternoon. The truck's helper Raihan was seriously injured in the accident.

The deceased Monowar Hossain was the son of Mohammad Ali of Kaliganj Upazila in Jhenaidah District.

According to local and eyewitness sources, following the accident, the truck driver Monowar Hossain died on the spot. The injured was rescued by locals and quickly sent to the Upazila Health Complex.

Officer-in-Charge of Abhaynagar Police Station Md Nuruzzaman said that the body was recovered and sent to the Jashore General Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
