Bangladesh’s commanding 104 run victory over Pakistan in the opening Test in Mirpur has been reflected in the latest ICC Test rankings, with several players making notable gains.

Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto recorded one of the biggest jumps, climbing 16 places after producing a century in the first innings and narrowly missing another hundred in the second.

His performance played a central role in setting up the win and has strengthened his standing among Test batters.

Middle order batter Mominul Haque also advanced in the rankings following twin half centuries in the match, moving up to 35th among Test batters.

Veteran cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim, the former captain and wicketkeeper, likewise improved his position after contributing with the bat.

Among the bowlers, left arm spinner Taijul Islam rose to 13th place in the Test rankings, continuing his steady progress.

Fast bowler Nahid Rana, who claimed a decisive five wicket haul in the fourth innings to seal the match for Bangladesh, moved up to 64th.

The second and final Test of the two match series is scheduled to begin in Sylhet on May 17. Bangladesh defeated Pakistan 2-0 in their previous home series meeting and now have the opportunity to secure consecutive Test series wins against the same opponents if they triumph again in Sylhet.
