SIRAJGANJ, May 16: Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku said the small ethnic group people are no longer lagging behind. He urged the boys and girls of small ethnic groups to improve their education in line with the times.

He said these things while speaking as the chief guest at the Diversity Unity and Culture Meeting organised by the Bangladesh Small Ethnic Groups Federation at Mukti Sopan in Sirajganj Town on Saturday afternoon.

He said that at one time, the female members of this group used to wash their husbands' feet. As a result, they did not develop humanity, and the formation of a developed mentality was hindered. They considered themselves inferior to men. Now the era has changed, the female members of this group are serving in important positions in the country with dedication.

The minister further said they are currently working in various government offices of the country, including the secretariat. Not only that, there is a separate quota for them in government jobs.

At that time, Deputy Commissioner Md Aminul Islam, Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam Santu, District BNP General Secretary Saidur Rahman Bachchu, representatives of all the small ethnic groups in the district, and political leaders and activists were present.
