Mosleh Uddin Ahmed appointed new DMP commissioner

The government on Sunday appointed Additional Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mosleh Uddin Ahmed as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).

A notification issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs said that Mosleh Uddin, currently serving as the chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), has been transferred to the DMP as its commissioner with immediate effect.

The notification, signed by Deputy Secretary Tawfik Ahmed, said the order was issued in the public interest.

Mosleh Uddin Ahmed had officially taken charge as CID chief on March 25 this year after being appointed as additional IGP of the department on March 16.

A 15th Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) police cadre officer, Mosleh Uddin joined Bangladesh Police in 1995.

During his professional career, he served in several important positions at Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP).

He also worked as superintendent of police in different districts, including Kushtia, Bhola and Sherpur.

Besides his domestic assignments, Mosleh Uddin served in the United Nations-African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur, Sudan.
